Achitecturally designed home for a winemaker in Arrowtown by Stacey Farrell. Residential architecture with hillside views to the Remarkables.

Home for a Winemaker is a small house set on a hillside above Arrowtown, with views to the Remarkables and surrounding landscape.

The design carefully manages privacy from neighbouring properties while maintaining long views, using window placement and setbacks to frame outlooks and protect sightlines.

Outdoor living is split between a sheltered north-facing deck and a more enclosed courtyard, allowing the house to respond to changing weather conditions.

The entry sequence reflects the client’s daily routine, arriving from the vineyard into an outdoor threshold before moving through the house, with functional spaces integrated along the way.

This home was a finalist in the TIDA New Zealand Architect-Designed Kitchen Awards.
